Greater Noida authority to recover GST dues from allottees

The Greater Noida Authority will soon initiate a drive to recover the pending Goods and Services Tax (GST) from its allottees.

Authority officials, however, clarified that residential allottees will not have to pay the tax for urban services as the GST Council considers the industrial authorities as civic bodies.

From July 2017, the Authority started imposing 18% tax on its allottees. However, due to the frequent back and forth over clarity on the GST regime on various services and over the status of urban services, the Authority did not insist on extracting the additional payments from its allottees.

In the meantime, the Authority kept paying the applicable GST to the state and the Union governments as prescribed under the law.

“We held several meetings last month to find out the status of the GST collection. Those who have not paid the GST yet, will be asked to pay up,” said GNIDA’s CEO Narendra Bhooshan.
